KOHA WORKSHOP AT GRETSA UNIVERSITY

The second KOHA Kenya training workshop will be held at Gretsa University in the University Library auditorium on Friday 29th May 2009 from 9.00AM to  4.30PM. The workshop will be facilitated by the Kenya Koha Community members.  The core areas to be covered in the workshop will include:

• Integrating & Implementing FOSS In Libraries ()
• Managing Digital Collection on Dspace
• Cataloguing & Classification on Koha
• Serial Management on Koha
• among others.

• 9.00 -930 am –Koha Kenya  Overview & Review-  (By Benson)
• 9.30 – 10.30 am  -Implementing Digital Content Management Systems in Libraries – (By Ken Rotich)

• 10.30 am – 11.00 am — Tea Break
  11.00 -12.00 pm -Working on Dspace (Practicals) — (Ken Rotich / Abraham Kibe)
  12.00 – 1.00 pm -Introduction to Koha ILS // Serial Management on Koha (Ken / Benson)
• 1.00pm -2.00 pm –Lunch Break
• 2.00pm -3.00pm – Understanding Koha 3.0 & MARC21 (Theory) — (Tito Wawire)

How to Get to Gretsa University – Thika Campus:

From Nairobi: Option 1- Pick no.237 (marked Posta/Makongeni Direct) at the former KBS stage, alight at Gretsa Main Campus, main gate.  Option 2- Take no 237 alight in Thika Town.

From Thika Town – Near the Municipal Stadium get Matatu for Posta/Makongeni – alight at Engen/Gretsa Main Gate.
